We’ve got a packed slate of baseball to bet on Wednesday and I’ve picked out two games which I’m seeing plenty of value in. Let’s get to them.
St. Louis Cardinals (+145) vs. Milwaukee Brewers (-170) Total: 7
The Cardinals have found a way to win nine of José Quintana‘s 10 starts with the team, but they’re just 1-1 as underdogs. I believe they’ll drop to 1-2 here on Wednesday with the deck stacked against them.
St. Louis has nothing to play for here after clinching on Tuesday night and is running out their hangover lineup. Milwaukee, meanwhile, is just 1 1/2 back of the Phillies in the wild card and will not only be playing with a purpose but throwing a better pitcher.
Brandon Woodruff is rocking a 1.67 ERA in his last four starts with 37 strikeouts in 27 innings, hitting double digits in his last three outings. Against the Cardinals this year, he’s allowed two earned runs in nine innings, and at home he’s working with a 2.16 ERA.
Milwaukee has been better offensively in the last week and should win here with the motivation and with a red hot pitcher.
Edge: Brewers First Five -0.5 (-120)

Los Angeles Dodgers (-145) vs. San Diego Padres (+125) Total: 7.5
Now the Dodgers don’t have anything to play for at this point, but I don’t think that’ll stop them from beating up on their bitter rivals on Wednesday night.
L.A. went to war in a 10-inning battle with San Diego last night, and while it used its fair share of relievers it didn’t nearly drain its bullpen quite like the Padres. The home side saw its three best relievers throw at least 20 pitches and many have had to throw quite a bit in the last three days. The Dodgers were off Monday and used just one reliever for seven pitches on Sunday.
On top of this, Julio Urías has been sublime with a 2.00 ERA in three starts against the Padres and a sub-two ERA in the last five starts. Joe Musgrove has a 3.95 ERA in his last five starts and a 5.11 ERA against the Dodgers this year.
I just don’t know what the Padres are going to have for the Dodgers on Wednesday given all this.
