There are several reports indicating that the Falcons have traded superstar wide receiver Julio Jones to the Titans. Atlanta is set to receive Tennessee’s 2022 second-round draft pick and other compensation, while Tennessee will also receive Atlanta’s 2023 sixth-round pick. On the surface this may look like a big move for the Titans, but I’m not sure if this will move the needle all that much. Julio Jones is a 32-year old wideout who struggles with injuries at this point in his career. As of May 24, PointsBet had the the Titans at +1000 to land Jones.
From a betting standpoint, despite having finished with an 11-5 record in 2020, the Titans entered 2021 with a projected Win Total of nine. The Under for this season’s projected Win Total was juiced to -115 on PointsBet. However, after the reported trade, PointsBet took the Titans off the board. The Titans Win Total has remained at 9 across the industry, but there has been a shift in the juice at some shops.

When you look around different sportsbooks you don’t really see too much change in the Titans futures market. DraftKings has the Titans and Colts at +110 to win the AFC South. I would rather much hammer the Colts. FanDuel has the Titans at -138 to make the playoffs and +1600 to win the AFC. PointsBet has the Titans at +3000 to win the NFL title.
If healthy, the threat of Julio Jones could open up running lanes for Derrick Henry. Henry ran for over 2,000 yards last season but struggled in the playoffs against the Ravens. The addition of Jones will help on that front, but I’m not convinced it helps them outside of that.
