The Week 5 edition of Sunday Night Football is a battle of the birds, the Atlanta Falcons (2-2) are hosting the Baltimore Ravens (3-1) with kickoff slated at 8:20 PM Eastern on NBC and Peacock! Atlanta is streaking with two-straight wins over Green Bay and New Orleans scoring 80 points since Michael Penix returned from injury. Baltimore is riding a two-game winning streak as well with victories over Dallas and Tennessee. The Ravens could have easily been 4-0 if they didn’t blow a fourth quarter lead in Week 2 against the Saints.
Michael Penix and the Atlanta offense is cooking with 498 and 420 total yards over the last two games compared to 238 and 286 yards in the first two weeks with Cooper Rush. The ground game has taken the pressure off Penix. Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson Jr. have combined to run for 451 yards and eight touchdowns in the past two games, while Penix has attempted 45 total passes. The Falcons haven’t had to take the training wheels off against two subpar defenses (Green Bay, New Orleans), but they might against Baltimore on Sunday Night Football. Atlanta’s defense held their last two opponents to 4.6 and 5.2 yards per play, a total of 67 rushing yards, plus a 12-of-30 mark on third downs (40%). Opponents are going three-and-out against Atlanta 29.7% of the time this season, ranking fourth-best. It’s no wonder why the Falcons are -3 point home favorites. It feels like this might be the best football they’ll play all season.
Baltimore didn’t have a letdown spot this past week with a win over Tennessee (24-18). Baltimore beat Dallas in Brazil on the final play of the game (34-31), then scored all 24 points in the first half (24-7 at the half) versus Tennessee before getting shutout in the second half (24-18). Baltimore punted four-straight drives to open the second half before a missed 40-yard field goal with 3:24 left. The Ravens recorded 96 yards in the second half against the Titans and with Lamar Jackson (ankle) and Zay Flowers (foot) questionable entering this game, Baltimore might be in trouble. Defensively, there is a list of players with questionable tags ranging from Trey Hendrickson (finger) to Marlon Humphrey (calf) to Z’Darius Smith (concussion). This isn’t the best time to possibly be down a few of your best defenders against the current form of this Falcons offense. It’ll be unclear from a betting or fantasy standpoint of what to do with Baltimore until closer to Sunday night.
Let’s dive into the numbers and see if we can’t find an additional sweat or two.

The look-ahead preseason spread for this game was Ravens -4.5 with a game total of 48.5, so there has been a ton of movement since then. The market may be overacting to the Falcons’ recent success, but given the Ravens injuries, it’s no surprise to see Baltimore as underdogs and money coming in on the Under.

Expert picks & predictions for Ravens at Falcons
Vaughn Dalzell (@VmoneySports) leans the Ravens, but would rather wait for injury confirmations:
“Baltimore is 7-2 ATS in their last nine games as a road underdog and after Atlanta’s two big wins over Green Bay and New Orleans, it could be a good spot to fade the Falcons. However, if Lamar Jackson or Zay Flowers are out, then I am out at +3.5. If Jackson is out, I would get involved with Baltimore at +7 or higher. If Flowers is out, I’d like a +5.5 if the public plays Atlanta. The Falcons are 4-9 ATS as a home favorite since 2024.”

Quarterback matchup for Ravens at Falcons
· Baltimore: Lamar Jackson – Jackson was absent from practice on Thursday with an ankle injury and is marked as questionable entering the Sunday night showdown. His top wide out Zay Flowers is also questionable (foot) after catching eight of 10 targets for 118 yards and a touchdown last week. If he’s out against Atlanta, the Ravens passing attack could struggle, but luckily Derrick Henry is still a workhorse. Henry has 23 or more carries in three out of four games and could cross 25-plus attempts if Jackson or Flowers are out. Jackson’s threw four touchdowns and completed 30 out of 40 passes (75%) over the last two games with no turnovers. Atlanta runs the 13th-most man coverage entering the week and Jackson has the No. 2 passer rating versus man coverage and 11th in completion percentage against man.
· Atlanta: Michael Penix – Since Penix returned, it’s been all smiles for the Falcons. Atlanta is 2-0 and scored 35 and 42 points with Penix. He’s completed 73.3% of his passes for 479 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Over 22 drives since Penix came back, Atlanta has scored on 13 of them! Penix has yet to throw more than 25 times in a game, so that may come here versus a Ravens team that won’t go away. Luckily, Baltimore has some injuries on defense that could give Penix and company an upper hand on Sunday night. Both Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson Jr. have scored four touchdowns each in the last two games to take the pressure off Penix. At some point, Penix will have to take the top off the coupe and put that baby in a higher gear. He can’t be on cruise control forever.
