    Vikings waived WR Blake Proehl.
Signed as an undrafted free agent to reportedly compete with Dede Westbrook, Ihmir Smith-Marsette, and K.J. Osborn for Minnesota’s No. 3 WR role, Proehl failed to make it to the team’s second preseason game. Proehl, who had a 47/577/4 line in nine games for ECU last year, could still land elsewhere in a tryout during camp.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer mentioned Blake Proehl as a candidate for the No. 3 receiver role.
An undrafted free agent, Proehl is competing with Chad Beebe, KJ Osborn, Olabisi Johnson and fifth-rounder Ihmir Smith-Marsette. The Vikings rarely feature their third receiver, but that could change with Kyle Rudolph gone. Proehl, who had a 47/577/4 line in nine games for ECU last year, would have late round Dynasty value if he finds his way into three-wide sets.

  • FA Wide Receiver #13
Vikings signed East Carolina WR Blake Proehl.
The son of 16-year NFL wide receiver Ricky Proehl, Blake played three seasons at East Carolina, catching 130 balls for 1,576 yards and nine scores. He proved expert at finding soft spots in coverage at East Carolina, and separated quickly in and out of breaks. Proehl, second on the team with 47 receptions last year, fared OK at his pro day, posting a 67th percentile burst score and a 4.51 40-yard dash. Having developed former undrafted free agent Adam Thielen, the Vikings have experience with wideouts that didn’t turn heads in the draft process.
