Titans TE Bo Scaife will be a backup fullback this season.
He’s also the team’s third tight end. Scaife caught a surprising 37 passes as a sixth-round rookie, but will have limited fantasy value as long as Erron Kinney and Ben Troupe are on the Titans.
  • FA Tight End #49
Titans TE Bo Scaife returned to practice Tuesday.
The underrated option caught 37 passes as a rookie and could pass Erron Kinney on the depth chart if Kinney can’t stay healthy. He missed two weeks of workouts.

Free agent Bo Scaife “struggled with conditioning” during Patriots practices.
The Patriots signed Scaife back on June 7, but he lasted just 11 days on the roster. Showing up out of shape is a sure way to land on coach Bill Belichick’s bad side. Scaife is no lock to get back in the NFL.

    Patriots signed TE Bo Scaife.
Scaife is a poor blocker and doesn’t have much playmaking ability left at age 31, so it’s a curious signing. The Patriots are obviously loaded at tight end with Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez and blocker Daniel Fells. Scaife isn’t a lock to stick on the roster once Gronk and Fells get healthy.

Patriots released TE Bo Scaife and OT Mike Ingersoll.
Scaife only lasted 11 days on the roster after being signed off the street on June 7. It’s probably not a good sign for his future in the league. Ingersoll is a practice squad-type tackle who previously spent time with the Bucs.

Patriots worked out free agent TE Bo Scaife.
On the heels of their Dallas Clark tryout, it suggests the Pats are simply performing due diligence in case of an injury to their own tight ends. Scaife spent the 2011 season on injured reserve after signing with the Bengals in August.

Chris Johnson was a no-show Tuesday morning for the start of the Titans’ voluntary May minicamp.
Johnson, currently training in Florida on his own, was also absent for April minicamp. Bo Scaife was another no-show, despite having signed his restricted free agent tender. Scaife is currently working out in Denver. The Titans have more minicamps scheduled for the weeks of May 17 and May 24.

Coach Jeff Fisher reiterated his confidence that Chris Johnson is “not planning on sitting out the season.”
“I am not concerned about Chris, he’ll be here eventually,” Fisher emphasized. The Titans coach believes Johnson, Bo Scaife, and Stephen Tulloch are only missing practices due to the advice they’re receiving from their agents. Scaife, in particular, has no reason to sit. He’s going to be overpaid for the second straight season. In fact, the Titans ought to pull their tender offer to send a message.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher expressed disappointment that Bo Scaife continues to stay away from offseason workouts.
Though the workouts are voluntary, Scaife is under contract and doesn’t have a legitimate excuse for skipping. “Bo must have reasons for it,” Fisher said. “He was compensated pretty well last year and he’s going to be compensated pretty well this year. I think we’ve treated Bo pretty well.”

Bo Scaife has reported to Baptist Park for Titans OTAs.
Scaife signed his $4.908 million tender over two months ago, but had been working out on his own to this point. He’ll resume practicing with the team on Tuesday. Scaife finished 2009 as just the No. 23 overall fantasy tight end. With Jared Cook likely to play more, expect Scaife’s numbers to diminish.
