Jets signed Rutgers S Brendon White.
White (6'1/215), a three-year contributor at Rutgers, is one of the thicker safeties in this class. To no surprise, White featured as the strong-side safety in Rutgers’ defense. He racked up 38 tackles in just five games in 2020, as well as one pick and one pass defended. What fascinates us with White is that his athletic profile is tough to square. White is a big, thick safety, but the only area in which he cleared the 35th percentile for testing was with a stellar 6.82 three-cone drill. White, though not terribly explosive or fast, does feature some smooth hips and transitions, which often made it easy for him to navigate through traffic when working down to defend the run. White will probably be stuck just defending tight ends and running backs in the NFL, though, and needs a system that puts him near the line of scrimmage, similar to Josh Jones.
