The Mariners are down to 34 players. They’ll have to set their 25-man roster on March 24, one day before the start of their series in Japan. Falkenborg was cut despite a 1.59 ERA in one start and two relief appearances. Hamulack’s departure leaves just one left-handed reliever (Arthur Rhodes) in camp.

Falkenborg finished with a 3.25 ERA and 23 saves as the closer at Memphis. The Cardinals will stick the veteran back into middle relief.

Falkenborg had an 8.31 ERA in five appearances. He goes to make room for waiver claim Todd Wellemeyer.
