The Bears worked out K Michael Badgley on Friday.
The team also hosted Brian Johnson and Josh Lambo for workouts. Cairo Santos is questionable for personal reasons this week. He did not practice Thursday or Friday and the team is bracing for his absence. One of these three will likely be signed to the practice squad and elevated for Sunday.

  • SF Kicker #18
Free agent K Eddy Pineiro is visiting the Panthers on Monday.
So is fellow kicker Brian Johnson. The Panthers are looking to replace Zane Gonzalez, who suffered a significant groin injury in the final week of the preseason and may wind up on IR. Both kickers have ties to Carolina’s special teams coordinator, Chris Tabor.

  • FA Kicker (FG)
    Washington signed K Brian Johnson.
Former starting kicker Joey Slye was sent to injured reserve because of a hamstring injury he suffered Monday night against the Seahawks. Johnson had a less than stellar four-game run with the Saints earlier this year, connecting on all eight of his field goals but missing three extra points including two in a game the Saints lost by two points. Those misses ultimately spelled his demise. He will hope for a better run with The Football Team.

  • Saints signed K Brett Maher.
Brian Johnson, who missed two extra points last week in a game the Saints lost by two, was waived in a corresponding move. Maher spent time with the Saints in training camp this year, but he was cut with an injury settlement in August. A revolving door of kickers have traveled through New Orleans this season, and none of them have been exciting fantasy options. That is unlikely to change with Maher.

  • DEN Kicker #3
Saints K Wil Lutz (groin) said he had a setback in his rehab and will miss the rest of the 2021 season.
Lutz made the announcement Tuesday morning on Twitter. The veteran was designated to return from a groin injury that had kept him sidelined for the season’s first six weeks, but wasn’t able to suit up Monday night against the Seahawks. Brian Johnson -- who is, for now, the Saints’ kicker -- made both of his field goal tries and an extra point in New Orleans’ win over Seattle. The Saints have the fewest field goal attempts of any team (6) through Week 7. A top fantasy option for much of the Drew Brees era in New Orleans, Lutz won’t kick again until 2022.
