Former coach Chris Craig arrested a week after reports of terror threats
Last week, former Midland JC head coach and Division I assistant Chris Craig landed in the news as a result of his allegedly making terrorist threats at various sites in Arizona and Colorado. The alleged threats came four months after Craig resigned as head coach after posting “end of the world prophecies” on both his Twitter account and personal blog.Craig, who hadn’t been seen since July 25 at Rocky Mountain National Park, was finally arrested by authorities in Price City, Utah Thursday morning on charges that included possession of a controlled substance.
According to Price City Police Capt. Bill Barnes, authorities learned of Craig’s presence when he was spotted by an area citizen as well as an off duty Public Safety Dispatcher. Craig, 32, was taken into custody at his wife’s apartment in northeast Price due to an outstanding misdemeanor drug possession warrant at approximately 10:30 a.m. As the former coach was searched during the arrest process, police located suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia and shotgun shells.
Craig was subsequently booked into the Carbon County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia and the outstanding warrant.
Local authorities didn’t book Craig on any weapons charges in connection with the shotgun shells but that is a possibility for the FBI according to the report. Craig’s threats have attracted attention from both federal and international law enforcement officials.
