Little Rock plans to promote Wes Flanigan to head coach to replace Chris Beard, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reported Wednesday.
Flanigan spent this past season as the Trojans’ associate head coach after stops as an assistant at UAB, Nebraska and Mississippi State. Beard accepted the UNLV job earlier this week after getting Little Rock to the NCAA tournament’s second round with an upset of fifth-seeded Purdue.
Flanigan, an Auburn grad, is a Little Rock native who also had a stint as an assistant at the school from 2004-08.
The Trojans could be in for another big year after going 30-5 this past one as much of their core will return, though they will lose tournament star Josh Hagins to graduation. Promoting Flanigan keeps consistency for the program after a successful season by Beard in his lone year with the Trojans.
