Report: Washington’s Desmond Simmons out for 6-8 weeks
Washington has lost a key piece in their front court for up to two months.
Desmond Simmons, who started 14 games last season and averaged 4.9 points and 6.5 boards, will be out for six-to-eight weeks following arthroscopic surgery on his knee, according to a report from Jon Rothstein.
Simmons was going to be counted on for big minutes in the Husky front court with Aziz N’Diaye gone. In his absence, expect Jernard Jarreau and and Shawn Kemp Jr. to play the majority of the minutes. Perris Blackwell, who transferred into the program from San Francisco, should see time as well.
In a best case scenario, Simmons could be back in the lineup for Dec. 22nd’s game against UConn at home, but he’ll be out when Washington take a trip down to San Diego State and when the Huskies head to New York for the 2K Sports Classic.
