Utah State redshirt sophomore QB Andrew Peasley completed 14-of-21 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns while rushing 11 times for 118 yards and a score in Thursday’s 41-27 win over New Mexico.
Peasley had mostly been riding the bench throughout his entire career at Utah State up until Thursday evening. He earned a few snaps here and there in the past couple of games, but he had not made any starts and did not look to be much in limited action. Peasley (6'2/205) ran with this chance to start, though, and dominated a weak New Mexico squad. Peasley earned just over 11 yards per attempt through the air while nearly doing the same on the ground. With his four combined touchdowns, Peasley scored every offensive touchdown for the Aggies. The team’s only other touchdown was a defensive scoop and score in the third quarter. Whether or not Peasley can carry over this success into the following weeks it to be seen, but he can try versus Air Force next week.
