Wyoming received a commitment from former Utah State junior QB Andrew Peasley.
In a wild turn of events, Wyoming and Utah State essentially traded quarterbacks in the transfer portal. Levi Williams went to play for the Aggies and now Peasley (6'2/200) is heading to Laramie. Peasley played in nine total games, but extensively in only two. He amassed 415 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Peasley will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

    Logan Bonner

Utah State redshirt junior QB Logan Bonner (leg) exited Friday’s game against BYU midway through the fourth quarter with an injury.
This one didn’t look good for Bonner (6'1/230), who left the game following a non-contact injury after he ran to the right to avoid pressure from an oncoming defender before ultimately throwing the ball away. Bonner limped off holding his knee, and while he hasn’t been declared out, likely won’t be returning in this one. If his day is indeed done, Bonner finishes the evening going 21-of-41 passing for 276 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He was replaced by quarterback Andrew Peasley. We will wait to hear more on this injury.

Utah State junior QB Andrew Peasley completes 10-of-15 passes for 195 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions in the 49-45 win Air Force.
In a game where 103 points were scored, there were a lot of big moments. For Peasley (6'2"/200) it came in the second half when he replaced Logan Bonner after he took a big hit and sat out the rest of the game. Peasley’s arm was on display, what looked like a possible screen gone bad, Peasley threw it as he falling backwards and about to take a shot to Brandon Bowling for the 37-yard touchdown. The big moment came in the fourth quarter when aired out an absolute bomb to Deven Thompkins for 72-yards to cut the deficit to three. We’ll have to watch this week on whether the injury that took Bonner out of the game will keep him from playing. Utah State will host Boise State next Saturday.

Utah State redshirt junior QB Logan Bonner and junior QB Andrew Peasley are listed as co-starters ahead of Saturday’s game against Washington State.
Apparently the starting quarterback race in Logan is too close to call, as Bonner (6'1/230) and Peasley (6'2/200) are listed as co-starters. This situation wouldn’t be anything new for the former, as he was part of a two-man platoon at Arkansas State (which was led by new USU head coach Blake Anderson). Bonner made 15 starts during his Arkansas State career, earning honorable mention All-Sun Belt honors in 2020. Peasley started two of the five games that he appeared in last season, completing 53.6% of his passes and throwing for 391 yards and four touchdowns with three interceptions.

  • FA Quarterback
Utah State redshirt sophomore QB Andrew Peasley completed 17-of-32 passes for 123 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in a 35-7 loss to Air Force on Thursday.
Peasley (6'2/205) opened the game with a 15-play, 65 yard scoring drive that ate up 8:04 of clock and was capped off by a four-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Nathan off of a designed rollout. Unfortunately the Utah State offense completely stalled from that point forward, as Air Force’s defense tightened up and their punishing ground attack took over, rattling off 35 unanswered points. The redshirt sophomore averaged a paltry 3.8 yards per pass while leading the offense to a mere 232 total yards. The Aggies play Colorado State next Saturday in their season finale.

  • FA Quarterback
Utah State redshirt sophomore QB Andrew Peasley completed 14-of-21 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns while rushing 11 times for 118 yards and a score in Thursday’s 41-27 win over New Mexico.
Peasley had mostly been riding the bench throughout his entire career at Utah State up until Thursday evening. He earned a few snaps here and there in the past couple of games, but he had not made any starts and did not look to be much in limited action. Peasley (6'2/205) ran with this chance to start, though, and dominated a weak New Mexico squad. Peasley earned just over 11 yards per attempt through the air while nearly doing the same on the ground. With his four combined touchdowns, Peasley scored every offensive touchdown for the Aggies. The team’s only other touchdown was a defensive scoop and score in the third quarter. Whether or not Peasley can carry over this success into the following weeks it to be seen, but he can try versus Air Force next week.

  • FA Quarterback
Utah State redshirt sophomore QB Andrew Peasley is listed as starter on the team’s depth chart released ahead of Thursday’s game against New Mexico.
Peasley (6'2/205) will make his first career start in the wake of former starter Jason Shelley’s dismissal from the program for a violation of team rules. He was battling Cooper Legas for the right to start last Thursday against Wyoming, but when the game was cancelled the competition extended into this week. The Aggies are currently undergoing a transition following the firing of HC Gary Anderson and will try to secure their first victory of the season against fellow winless program New Mexico Thursday night.

Peasley is the last quarterback standing following Shelley’s dismissal and former quarterback Henry Colombi’s transfer to Texas Tech. The redshirt sophomore will make his first career start against New Mexico this Thursday.

  • Cooper Legas HEADSHOT FINAL.jpg
    Cooper Legas
    USU #5
Utah State redshirt freshman Cooper Legas has been named the starting quarterback for Thursday’s game at Wyoming.
Legas (6'2/205), a three-star recruit out of Orem, Utah, will be making his first-ever appearance for the Aggies Thursday night. He’ll be starting in place of Jason Shelley, who was dismissed from the team following Saturday’s loss to Fresno State due to a violation of team rules. Andrew Peasley, who appeared in three of Utah State’s first four games, remains the backup. Peasley has completed 6-of-16 passes for 29 yards and an interception this season.
