North Texas sophomore DB DeShawn Gaddie (undisclosed) exited in the first quarter of Friday’s game against Marshall.
Gaddie (6'1/192) collided with a fellow defender and Marshall tight end Xavier Gaines after Gaines hauled in a 21-yard pass from Marshall QB Grant Wells. Gaddie immediately went down and exited the field shortly after, walking off with the assistance of trainers. On the year, he has allowed eight receptions on 12 targets for 88 yards and two touchdowns. He has also recorded two pass breakups and 21 tackles per Pro Football Focus.

  • Athlon Sports’ Steven Lassan named North Texas freshman CB DeShawn Gaddie his preseason pick for the “Top Freshman” in Conference USA.
Gaddie (6'0/170) signed with North Texas as a three-star recruit over the winter. He brings athleticism and length to the table. While Lassan likes him for a big freshman season, Gaddie will need to show out well in August camp if he is to see work right off the bat. Jordan Roberts, Keelan Crosby, Cam Johnson and Quinn Whitlock are a few of the names to know in the defensive backfield as we head into the summer. Just how Gaddie slots in with this group will clarify in time.
