Oregon redshirt sophomore WR Devon Williams caught six passes for 110 yards and a touchdown in a 38-29 victory over Oregon State this Saturday.
Williams (6'5/205) has seized control of the top wide receiver slot for the Ducks in recent weeks with Johnny Johnson III and Jaylon Redd both suffering injuries and Micah Pittman entering the transfer portal. His first reception was a big one, as Williams streaked down the left side, cleanly beating his defender and reeling in a well thrown 50-yard touchdown catch from Anthony Brown in the first quarter. Though an injury of his own sapped his effectiveness in the first five weeks of the season, Williams has recorded a touchdown in four of his last five games.

  • Oregon redshirt sophomore WR Devon Williams (undisclosed) is in uniform for Saturday’s game against Fresno State.
Williams (6'5/205) was limited for much if fall camp due to an undisclosed injury, so there was some concern that he would not be available for Oregon’s season opener. Based upon the fact that he’s in uniform for pregame warmups, the redshirt sophomore appears to be good to go. Willams played in six games last season, catching 15 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns.

  • Oregon redshirt sophomore WR Devon Williams (undisclosed) is expected to play against Washington on Saturday.
Williams (6'5/205) was a late scratch against Cal on Saturday, with his absence not being revealed until the pre-game broadcast team tipped the viewing audience off. He was sorely missed as Oregon dropped to 231 passing yards after averaging well over 300-yards passing over their previous three games. Their top receiving threat had posted back-to-back games with over 100-yards and a touchdown and will try to jump start the Oregon offense this Saturday against Washington.

  • Oregon redshirt sophomore WR Devon Williams (undisclosed) will miss Saturday’s game against Cal.
Per the official broadcast, Williams is not going to be playing against Cal. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound WR was huge for the Ducks last week, too. Against Oregon State, he racked up just over 100 yards and a score, serving as one of the offense’s most reliable pass-catchers. Thankfully for the Ducks, Cal are not exactly an offensive powerhouse and probably won’t force a shootout in this one, but it still stings a bit to be without a player like Williams. Look for WR Mycah Pittman to step up in Williams’ place.

  • Oregon redshirt sophomore WR Devon Williams caught four passes for 101 yards and a touchdown in a 41-38 loss to Oregon State on Saturday.
Williams exploded onto the scene with a 6-123-1 game against UCLA last week, and was nearly as good on Friday; albeit in a losing effort. His touchdown was a 60-yard connection with Tyler Shough where the 6-foot-5, 205-pound wideout was basically uncovered. A former four-star recruit and USC commit, Williams has been impressive, and should have another big game next Saturday against Cal.

  • Oregon redshirt sophomore WR Devon Williams caught six passes for 123 yards and a touchdown in a 38-35 victory over UCLA on Saturday.
Williams (6'5"/205) overshadowed established starting wideouts Jaylon Redd and Johnny Johnson III to post the first 100-yard receiving game of his career. The redshirt sophomore pass catcher mostly worked the right sideline and feasted on the smaller UCLA corners in one-on-one coverage. He recorded a long reception of 49 yards and made a few very difficult plays on deep balls. Oregon’s receivers have taken turns leading the team each week, so it’s anyone’s guess how much volume he receives next Saturday against Oregon State.

  • Oregon redshirt freshman WR Devon Williams is now officially enrolled in classes and has been added to the football program, per an announcement from the school.
Williams’ transfer saga has already been over for a few days, but the young WR is now an official part of the Ducks football program. Williams (6'4/210) started the year at USC before initially announcing a transfer to Oregon State, then eventually landing at Oregon. As of now, it looks like Williams will not be eligible to play until his redshirt sophomore season in 2020. Williams was a four-star recruit (per 247 Sports) in the 2018 signing class.
  • Former USC redshirt freshman WR Devon Williams is transferring to Oregon.
Well now. An earlier report had announced that Williams (6'4/210) was heading to the state of Oregon, but to play at Oregon State. Nope. He announced on social media that instead he’ll be playing for the Ducks in Eugene rather than the Beavers in Corvallis. It’s potentially a big get for Oregon, as his size and speed combo could make him an immediate candidate for playing time -- if he gets the waiver to play right away. If not, he’ll have to sit out 2020, and then have two years of eligibility remaining.
  • 247Sports’ Angie Machado reports that former USC redshirt freshman WR Devon Williams will transfer to Oregon State.
Williams (6'4/210) entered into the transfer portal in mid-September. He visited Corvallis shortly thereafter. Per Machado, the redshirt freshman was also interested in potential transfer to Oregon and took a visit to Eugene on Tuesday. Looks like it will be OSU which wins out on this one, though. The former four-star recruit will have to sit out the remainder of the 2019 season once he officially lands at OSU and will be eligible for action next fall as a redshirt sophomore. Williams caught five passes for 98 yards and a touchdown during his time at USC. While he does not have a real on-field track record, the wideout makes for a nice little gamble add for HC Jonathan Smith and staff.
  • Former USC redshirt freshman WR Devon Williams is visiting Oregon State this weekend.
Just a couple days after it was reported that Williams (6'4/210) had entered his name into the transfer portal, the former USC wideout is already on his first visit. Wherever the redshirt freshman lands, he’ll have to at the very least sit out the remainder of this season. What may help Oregon State here is that the school does not begin classes for its next academic term until September 25.
