Drake Stoops has been suspended two games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Stoops will be able to participate in training camp and play in preseason games, but will be forced out of the first two contests of the regular season. The 25-year-old will be battling for a roster spot and is far from a lock to make the Rams out of exhibition season.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #81
Oklahoma sophomore WR Theo Wease (leg) was a participant in warmups ahead of Saturday’s game against Iowa State.
Wease (6'2/200) being dressed out and going through warmups is a positive development for the Sooners, who are expected to be without Drake Stoops. After starting all 11 games last season, Wease has yet to appear in a game season due to the leg injury that he suffered in a September practice. The sophomore caught 37 passes for 530 yards and four touchdowns in 2020.

  • FA Wide Receiver #6
Oklahoma redshirt sophomore WR Drake Stoops caught three passes for 93 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 38-35 loss to Kansas State.
Stoops sighting! Drake is the son of former OU HC Bob Stoops. The former walk-on notched his first career touchdown in Saturday’s contest, making a 32-yard scoring grab at the start of the second quarter. His 93 yards receiving on Saturday were just 19 yards shy of his career yardage total heading into the weekend. That’ll work. Stoops and crew will take on Iowa State next weekend.

    Anton Harrison
    OKLA
Oklahoma freshman T Anton Harrison is not playing on Saturday against Missouri State.
Harrison is a freshman who was expected to star at left tackle for the Sooners after signing on as a four-star recruit. He is not alone, as Sooner Scoop reports that as many as 17 players are missing in action; including wide receivers Drake Stoops and Obi Obialo, RB T.J. Pledger, and DL Marcus Stripling. The question now is that these are long-term issues, as the Sooners shouldn’t have any issue handling an FCS team. Oklahoma’s first game against an FBS program is September 26 vs. Kansas State.

  • FA Wide Receiver #6
Three-star 2018 WR Drake Stoops will join Oklahoma as a preferred walk-on.
Before you even ask: Yes, Stoops is the son of former Sooners head coach Bob Stoops. This is not a case of nepotism, however; Stoops was consensus three-star wideout who had offers from Iowa, Memphis, and several other Group Of Five schools. Reports indicate he’s a quality route-runner with good hands, but may not have the athleticism or size (5'11/175) to be more than a slot receiver. Stoops probably will be able to redshirt his freshman year, but it’ll be interesting to see what the coaches son will do over his time with the Sooners.
