Notre Dame redshirt sophomore DL Ja’Mion Franklin has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Franklin (6'1/308) saw the field sparingly in 2019, finishing the season with nine appearances and four tackles. However, in 2020, Franklin’s playing time seems to have dipped even further, ultimately leading to his departure. Franklin was a three-star recruit in Notre Dame’s 2018 signing class. Franklin will likely not be able to play right away if he transfers this season, but will still have two years of eligibility at his new school.

The status of Notre Dame sophomore DT Jamion Franklin (quad) for the start of fall camp has yet to be determined.
Franklin (6'1/308) appeared in just one game as a freshman, as his season was ended prematurely by a ruptured quadriceps tendon. According to Pete Sampson of The Athletic, the sophomore was limited during the spring as he continued to recover from the serious injury. Not having Franklin would leave the Fighting Irish down a man in their defensive tackle rotation, with juniors Kurt Hinish and Myron Tagovailoa Amosa expected to be the starters.
