Three days before Auburn is set to open spring practices, one Tiger has decided he’d be better off elsewhere. Tight end Chris Laye announced Saturday afternoon his intention to transfer.
Laye made the announcement on his Facebook page.
I have chosen to leave the Auburn football team. I want to thank the people that helped me through the journey and the fans.

A redshirt sophomore, Laye did not record a catch in 2015. But Tigers beat writer Brandon Marcello noted Laye was expected to play a significant role in Auburn’s offense this fall.
Auburn’s tight end depth now stands at redshirt freshman Jalen Harris and signee Landon Rice.
