Channeling my inner Dave Barry, an organization that would make a great name for a rock band is now associated with one of the premier postseason events in college football.
It was announced Friday that BattleFrog, described in a press release as “the nation’s leading outdoor fitness event and obstacle race organizer,” has secured the rights to serve as the title sponsor for the 45th annual Fiesta Bowl. This season’s BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl will be played Jan. 2, 2016, at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., and will feature two teams selected by the College Football Playoff committee.
“The Fiesta Bowl is pleased to work with BattleFrog to present this year’s ‘BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl,’” the bowl’s executive director, Mike Nealy, said in a statement. “BattleFrog’s commitment to creating unique and exciting events matches our desire to deliver one-of-a-kind experiences to fans each year.”
Tostitos had been the game’s title sponsor from 1996 through the 2013 game. Vizio was served as the sponsor for the game following the 2014 season.
Next year’s Fiesta Bowl will be one of the two CFP semifinal games; BattleFrog may or may not be the sponsor as this agreement is a one-year deal.
“We are thrilled to bring the BattleFrog lifestyle to Arizona as title sponsor of the Fiesta Bowl and Fiesta Bowl Fan Fest Pregame Party,” said BattleFrog CEO Ramiro Ortiz. “BattleFrog is about family, country, health, fitness and love of the outdoors. BattleFrog, You Gotta Live It. We will add a new and interesting flavor to the event and will use this as an opportunity to entertain Arizonans and showcase our lifestyle.”
