A couple of weeks ago saw a pair of lower level college football programs play some exhibition football in Europe. This weekend added another school to that cross-Atlantic fun with Rose-Hulman’s football team taking on a team of all-stars from Spain.
The Spanish team was no match for Rose-Hulman, a division three football program, as the Fightin’ Engineers took a 73-0 victory home as a souvenir. Rose-Hulman, a team that went 7-3 in 2013, managed to score two defensive touchdowns and a safety on special teams while pitching the shutout.
Southwestern University, another division three school in Texas, defeated a team of German players 48-7 a couple of weeks ago. On the same day Claremont-Mudd-Scripps from California was defeated by a team of all-stars from Austria, 21-14.
UCF and Penn State will open the 2014 season with a game in Ireland in week one.
