Ex-USC DC interviews for same job with Bruins

Just a week or so ago, it appeared that former Miami head coach Randy Shannon had the inside track on the defensive coordinator job at UCLA.

While the Shannon-to-the-Bruins speculation may ultimately come to fruition, there is at least one other name reportedly in the mix.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, former USC assistant Rocky Seto has interviewed for the coordinator vacancy. Seto had followed Pete Carroll from the Trojans to the Seattle Seahawks, where he served as a defensive quality control assistant; he was USC’s coordinator during Carroll’s final season in 2009.

Perhaps the most startling part of the Daily News’ report on the state of head coach Rick Neuheisel’s search for a new defensive boss is the fact there have reportedly been 10 candidates interview for the job.

Regardless of who ultimately takes over the Bruins’ defense, they’ll be replacing Chuck Bullough, who was dismissed back in mid-December.
