There are a lot of changes going on with the Georgia program, but don’t talk to Georgia linebacker Jake Ganus about stability within a program. The former UAB linebacker transferred to Georgia following the shutting down of the Blazer program. His journey surely made him mentally stronger as a result, and that showed on the Georgia roster. Ganus was named the team MVP Saturday night.
Ganus led Georgia with 96 tackles this season, which led to his winning the Vince Dooley Most Valuable Player. That award was presented Saturday night at the annual team gala event to commemorate the season that was just played. His story is quite a fascinating one, as he was only expected to add some depth to the defense and play a role on special teams upon his arrival at Georgia. Ganus was a solid contributor when given an opportunity to play in the first few games of the season, but his back-to-back double-digit tackle totals against Alabama and Tennessee led to a strong second half of the season that saw three more double-digit tackle totals in the final three games of the season against Auburn, Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech.
Ganus and Georgia still have one more game to play this season. Georgia takes on Penn State in the TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville on January 2.
