Grantham wishes choking gesture ‘hadn’t happened’

Earlier today, Lil’ Ben brought you the news of Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham being caught on tape making a choking gesture and screaming “you’re gonna (really bad word) choke” at Florida’s Chas Henry before he attempted what would turn out to be the winning kick Saturday.

Head coach Mark Richt said that his first-year coordinator would not be punished for the rather bizarre incident, and it appears the SEC will not take any action against the coach either.

Grantham addressed his attempt to Noonan the opponents with hand signals and f-bombs earlier this evening and, while he stopped short of apologizing, he did seem to regret that it had taken place.

“As a competitor, sometimes you get caught up in the heat of the moment,” Grantham said. “I wish the situation hadn’t happened. It was a tough, hard-fought game. They won it, and I’m ready to move forward and finish out the year strong.”

So, apparently, this case is closed. As it should be.
