It was reported back in July that Texas and Maryland were involved in preliminary discussions that centered on a future two-game series.
Those preliminary discussions today became a finalized agreement, multiple media outlets are reporting.
Both schools announced Tuesday that they have reached agreement on games that will be played in 2017 and 2018. The Longhorns will take on the Terrapins in Austin Sept. 2, 2017, while the two schools will square off Sept. 1, 2018, at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
(The Baltimore Sun reports that the 2018 game will be played in College Park; we’re attempting to clarify the discrepancy.)
In addition to the Maryland game, Texas also announced the additions of games against New Mexico (2012), New Mexico State (2013), North Texas (2014) and Rice (2015).
