As Louisville heads into the homestretch of preparations for their postseason game, the Cardinals acknowledged Thursday they will be without a pair of key players when they take the field early next week.
According to head coach Charlie Strong, wide receiver Michaelee Harris will not play in the Belk Bowl versus North Carolina State Dec. 27 due to a knee injury suffered in practice prior to the team’s arrival in Charlotte. While the specific nature of the injury was not revealed, it’s severe enough that Harris may be unavailable for spring practice next year.
As a redshirt freshman, Harris led the Cardinals in receptions (37) and receiving yards (455).
Additionally, Strong announced that defensive end Greg Scruggs did not make the trip and will not play in the bowl game after getting picked up on a drunk-driving charge over the weekend. Scruggs started five games this season, and has six tackles for loss and four sacks this season.
