LHN officially adds AT&T U-verse to carriers

The Longhorn Network didn’t get much of a jump out of the gate last August. To the contrary, the Texas-ESPN, third-tier TV partnership sort of stumbled out for a moment, spun around once and promptly fell on its face.

But that was to be expected; the LHN was still figuring out how to use its legs since no program had ever launched a network of that magnitude before.

Verizon FiOS was the first big carrier to pick up the network, but on Friday it was officially announced that AT&T U-verse had joined the partnership as well. Orangebloods.com reported earlier this week that AT&T could be the next big carrier for the LHN, which is still without a deal with Time Warner Cable.

U-verse customers began tweeting photos early Friday morning that they had the LHN, though the announcement wasn’t official at the time.

Texas’ game against Wyoming will be broadcast on the LHN, with the Sept. 8 matchup against New Mexico also appearing on the third-tier network.

Still, the LHN isn’t available on Time Warner Cable or any major satellite provider.
