In the wake of an investigation into his use of a Land Rover registered in the name of an LA businessman, Southern Cal running back Joe McKnight did not travel with his teammates to San Francisco, calling into question his availability for the Emerald Bowl.
Head coach Pete Carroll had said earlier in the day that McKnight would travel with the team, but later stated that the back stayed behind to take care of a “compliance-related issue”.
“He has some paperwork he needs to do, and it’s best for him to stay in L.A. so he can be available to finish it,” Carroll said.
As for when, or even if, McKnight will be eligible for the bowl game, Carroll said that the school doesn’t “know right now how long this will take.”
If McKnight is unable to play, Allen Bradford would likely get the start.
