NC State fires offensive coordinator Matt Canada

With assistant coaching moves left and right, NC State has dropped a surprising one on us all with the decision to fire offensive coordinator Matt Canada.

NC State’s offense ranked 57th in the nation this past season with an average of 412.8 points per game, which actually went up each of the past two seasons with Canada leading the offensive playcalling. The average scoring also increased each of the past two seasons with the Wolfpack averaging 33.2 points per game this past season (42nd in the nation). NC State also allowed just 13 turnovers this season, fifth fewest in the nation. On top of that, while North Carolina State’s red zone scoring percentage was fairly average the past two seasons, the Wolfpack made a tremendous stride in red zone touchdown percentage under Canada and were one of the more touchdown efficient teams in the nation inside the red zone.

So, what exactly was going so wrong for NC State to let go of Canada? It appears to be a secret to everybody.
