Late last month it was reported that Baylor and Ole Miss were eyeing a 2020 neutral-site game in Texas. A couple of weeks later, it’s nearly come to fruition.
While nothing is finalized, Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork has confirmed to the Daily Journal that he has reached a verbal agreement with his counterpart at Baylor, Ian McCaw, for a 2020 game. The neutral-site affair will be played at NRG Stadium, home of the NFL’s Houston Texans.
It’s expected that game will open the 2020 season for both programs.
The Bears had been looking for a neutral-site game against an SEC opponent that season, as McCaw confirmed back in September of last year. The matchup between the Bears and Rebels would/will be the first-ever for the football programs.
