RB Duke Catalon decides to leave Texas, too

Earlier today reports surfaced that true freshman linebacker Cecil Cherry had decided to transfer out of the Texas football program. A few hours later, word of a departure from the offensive side of the ball has surfaced.

Both Scout.com and 247Sports.com are reporting that Duke Catalon has decided to leave Charlie Strong‘s football program and transfer elsewhere. Speculation has been growing of late that Catalon wasn’t pleased with his positioning on the running back depth chart and could be looking to bolt.

As was the case with Cherry, UT has yet to publicly address Catalon’s status with the Longhorns. The redshirt freshman could be headed for the University of Houston, 247Sports.com reports.

A four-star member of UT’s 2014 recruiting class, Catalon was rated as the No. 19 running back in the country; the No. 25 player at any position in the state of Texas; and the No. 193 player overall according to Rivals.com. He took a redshirt as a true freshman last season, and was headed for little or no playing time this season.

If he ends up at UH, or any other FBS program for that matter, he’d be forced to sit out the 2015 season.
