Report: Bob Stoops could get pay bump ‘Sooner’ than in current contract

First up, I’d like to apologize for subjecting you to that headline.

To the news: CBS Sports’ Jeremy Fowler reports Oklahoma will put before its board of regents a re-worked contract for coach Bob Stoops that would bump his salary to $5 million annually, in line with Charlie Strong at Texas and Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M.

Stoops’ current deal calls for at least a $5 million annual salary beginning in 2016, but Fowler reports that escalation could come quicker in this re-worked deal.

Oklahoma’s future looks bright coming off January’s Sugar Bowl win over Alabama, and with Stoops entrenched at his post (despite interest from the Cleveland Browns over the winter) the Sooners should continue their winning ways in Norman.
