As a 25-year-old freshman in 2009, Dave Shinskie started ten games at quarterback for Boston College.
As expected, Shinskie will get the opportunity to match or exceed that total in 2010.
Head coach Frank Spaziani announced Friday morning that Shinskie will be his starting quarterback for the opener against Weber State. Shinskie had been in a quasi-competition with sophomore Mike Marscovetra and freshmen Chase Rettig and Josh Bordner throughout the offseason, but ultimately retained the job -- after a Marscovetra spring practice scare -- he held for the majority of last year.
“Dave had a very good camp,” Spaziani said in a statement. “He is the incumbent, and we won games with him last year. He has improved and he is certainly deserving.”
Shinskie came to BC in June of last year after spending seven seasons in minor league baseball, and set school freshman records for yards (2,049) and passing touchdowns (15).
