Get ready for some AAC/ACC action in primetime on Boxing Day.
ESPN’s Brett McMurphy reports the St. Petersburg Bowl -- formerly known as the MagicJack and Beef O’Brady’s Bowl -- will be played on Dec. 26 at 8 p.m. ET at Tropicana Field. It’ll be the first time the bowl will be played after Christmas, likely thanks to the ACC getting involved in the game.
The bowl currently doesn’t have a sponsor, and it’s a shame the Buccaneers didn’t take Johnny Manziel so he’d have a natural tie-in to sponsor the game. “Welcome to the 2014 Johnny F***ing Football Bowl” has a nice ring to it.
Some St. Petersburg bowl trivia: Blake Bortles (pictured) was the game’s MVP in 2012, as he threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns as UCF thumped Ball State, 38-17.
