The ‘Cuse headed to inaugural Pinstripe Bowl

Bowl eligible for the first time in six years, Syracuse will slowly transition its way back into post-season relevance by playing in nearby New York City for the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl.

The bowl game will be played in the New Yankee Stadium against a Big 12 opponent who has yet to be selected, although Kansas State has been projected to land the spot. The Orange finished 7-5 in the Big East during year two of the Doug Marrone era.

“The opportunity to play in the Pinstripe Bowl in my hometown is part of the whole dream. New York State is our foundation. This is another step in our return to prominence,” Marrone said.

Certainly, Syracuse still has some work to do before a “return to prominence” on the national level is achieved, but the fact that they’re going bowling again is a step in the right direction -- a step that is good for the Big East as well.
