Tide’s Hightower fractures hand, should be back immediately

As fall camp gets into full swing, we’ve been reporting on numerous injuries around the country. Some of them serious; others, not so much.

Thankfully for Alabama, the injury to linebacker Dont’a Hightower can be placed in the latter category, although given the nature of the injury, it could have been a lot worse.

According to a tweet from Birmingham News reporter Izzy Gould, Hightower suffered a fractured hand on Sunday and had to have surgery on the injury. Hightower has actually attended the last few practices before today and is expected be back at practice as early as tomorrow.

“Dont’a had a fracture in his hand,” coach Nick Saban explained. “They did a little surgical procedure today, and he will probably be ready to come back and practice tomorrow.”

Oregon State’s Micah Hatfield and Cal’s Jackson Bouza also recently suffered bone breaks in their hand and could be out for a much longer time.
