National Signing Day is not just for high school seniors, and Tennessee has landed one of the biggest fish in the JUCO recruiting pool.
Wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson confirmed to ESPN.com Wednesday morning that he will be signing his Letter of Intent with the Vols Wednesday. Three other SEC schools -- Georgia, LSU and Ole Miss -- made up the Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College product’s final four.
Persistence on the part of the Vols, it appears, played a significant role in Patterson’s decision.
“The first phone call came from Tennessee last year on signing day,” Patterson said. “They never gave up. With some other teams, I would talk to the coaches once a week or something like that. Tennessee was different. They would call me almost every day, and they kept rolling with me. They kept sticking by me.”
Coming out of Rock Hill, S.C., the 6-3, 200-pound Patterson spent two years at Hutchinson and was a two-time JUCO All-American. 247Sports had Patterson rated as the No. 1 JUCO prospect in the country, while Rivals.com pegged him as the No. 4 recruit at that level.
