The resurrected UAB football program may still be a couple of years away from taking the field, but the reconstruction of a decimated roster continues.
The latest to sign on is Maquedius Bain, who announced over the weekend that he has committed to continue his collegiate playing career with the Blazers. Bain will be added as a midyear signee should he ultimately put pen to paper in a couple of months.
It’ll be a couple of years, though, before Bain or any other current or future Blazer sees the field. The football program was disbanded last December before being reinstated this past June, and isn’t scheduled to resume play until 2017. Unless given a special waiver by the NCAA given the circumstances, Bain would be in his final season of eligibility that season.
Bain was originally a three-star member of LSU’s 2013 recruiting class, rated as the No. 41 defensive tackle in the country coming out of high school in Florida. After redshirting as a true freshman, Bain played in 10 games in 2014.
In June of this year, Bain was one of three Tigers arrested and charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited building. Two months later, Bain decided to transfer from LSU. He spent the 2015 season at a Mississippi junior college.
