Utah’s undefeated season suffered a loss this week. Utah has lost starting tight end Siale Fakailoatonga for the rest of the season. Fakailoatonga’s injury is unknown as Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham has not shared details regarding the injury other than to say it is a season-ending injury.
Fakailoatonga stepped into the starting job at tight end early in the season after the Utes lost starter Evan Moeai suffered another season-ending injury. Fakailoatonga ends his season as Utah’s fourth-leading receiver with 120 yards on 12 receptions.
Utah’s depth at tight end is becoming a concern as sophomore Harrison Handley moves into the starting role, with freshman Caleb Repp backing him up. The two have combined for 11 receptions for 94 yards and four touchdowns this season.
