Texans signed Nebraska DL Damion Daniels.
Daniels (6’2/302) spent five seasons at Nebraska but didn’t find his way into a full-time starting role until 2021. In his final season with the Cornhuskers, Daniels totaled 33 tackles, two TFLs, and was an honorable mention for the All-Big 10 team. Per PFF, Daniels appeared on 902 defensive snaps in his career and never recorded a sack while managing just 10 pressures. His size allows him to fill gaps along the line, but it’s safe to say that Daniels doesn’t offer much as a pass rusher. Listed at over 320 pounds on Nebraska’s site, Daniels’ weight came in well below advertised at his pro day. Despite the drop in weight, he underwhelmed in athletic testing and finished with a 1.93 relative athletic score. Daniels pops on tape at times and shows an ability to shed blocks and create problems for opposing linemen. He possesses sheer power and is capable of driving blockers back, but needs to add another element to his game at the next level.
