Gossett recorded a serviceable 4.22 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 81/46 K/BB ratio a cross 98 innings (20 appearances, 18 starts) for Triple-A Worcester in the Red Sox’ minor-league system last year. The 29-year-old righty hasn’t appeared in the majors since he made 23 appearances with the Athletics over a two-year span from 2017 to 2018. He’ll offer the Twins some additional organizational pitching depth this season.

Gossett underwent Tommy John surgery in August of 2018 and was released by the Athletics last July. However, he’s back to full health now and should be ready to compete for a job in the spring. The 28-year-old holds a 5.91 ERA and 84/39 K/BB ratio over his 115 2/3 innings at the major level level.

He’s on track to make his MLB debut sometime in 2017.

Gossett was staked to a 4-0 lead after the top of the second inning, but that evaporated quickly. He gave up two runs in the bottom of the second, two more in the bottom of the third, and another three runs before exiting in the bottom of the fourth. It’ll probably be a while before Gossett gets another try in the Oakland rotation.
