Mays was waived from the Browns in May. He hasn’t appeared in a game since 2017 and spent last season on Cleveland’s practice squad. The 25-year-old is just training camp depth.

A seventh-round pick by the Packers back in 2017, Mays spent most of last season on Cleveland’s practice squad. Getting cut at this point in the offseason is not a great sign. He will be replaced on the roster by undrafted rookie RB L.J. Scott.

Mays (5'10/230) is the third running back the Packers have drafted this weekend, so they’re taking as many chances at their weakest offensive position. He ran 4.52 at Utah State’s Pro Day with an explosive 40.5-inch vertical and 10-foot-9 broad jump. Mays will compete for a final roster spot.

Mays was running behind fourth-rounder Jamaal Williams but ahead of fifth-rounder Aaron Jones. “He not only will make you miss, but he runs with power,” coach Mike McCarthy said. “Very natural with the run instincts.” Mays didn’t receive a carry in Green Bay’s preseason opener, but should get work against the Redskins on Saturday. He’s a name to file away in Dynasty leagues.

He was seen grabbing his hamstring after running in a touchdown during red zone drills. Mays left the field with the help of a trainer shortly after. Even with all the Packers’ injuries at running back, Mays failed to carve a meaningful role as a rookie, logging just 14 offensive snaps last year.

Mays missed virtually all of training camp with a hamstring injury. A seventh-round pick in last year’s draft, Mays was buried behind Jamaal Williams, Aaron Jones, and Ty Montgomery on the depth chart.

Mays is the Packers’ fourth-string running back behind Aaron Jones, Ty Montgomery, and Jamaal Williams. Bulaga tore his ACL and is out for the season.
