Dexter Fowler has announced his retirement from professional baseball.
Fowler, who made the announcement on his personal Twitter account, didn’t make an appearance in the majors last season after signing a minor league contract with the Blue Jays. The 36-year-old outfielder made his lone All-Star Game appearance and also won a World Series with the Cubs in 2016. His signature moment came when he walloped a leadoff homer for Chicago in Game 7 of the Fall Classic. He wraps up a 14-year career that includes stints with the Rockies, Astros, Cubs, Cardinals and Angels. He finishes with a .259/.358/.417 triple-slash line with 127 home runs and 149 stolen bases across 5,902 plate appearances in 1,460 games since 2008.

Blue Jays released OF Dexter Fowler.
Fowler requested and was granted his release by Toronto after appearing in just three games at Triple-A Buffalo this season. The 36-year-old veteran outfielder appeared in just seven games last year with the Angels before tearing the ACL in his left knee. It’s possible he’s able to find another opportunity, but will likely have to settle for another minor league contract.

Blue Jays signed OF Dexter Fowler to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Fowler just finished up a perhaps ill-advised five-year, $82.5 million contract that he signed with the Cardinals back in 2017. The 36-year-old outfielder appeared in only seven major league games last season with the Angels before suffering a torn ACL in his right knee. He’s slashed just .219/.320/.367 over his last 1,030 plate appearances since the beginning of 2018. In other words, it’s a low-impact move all around.

Angels transferred OF Dexter Fowler from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Fowler is done for the season after suffering a torn left ACL in Friday night’s game against the Blue Jays.

Angels announced that OF Dexter Fowler has a torn ACL.
Fowler was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a sprained right knee but unfortunately, it seems to be significantly worse than that. Let the Jo Adell and Brandon Marsh rumors commence, but Angels manager Joe Maddon suggested the team will go with Juan Lagares and Jose Rojas in right field for now.

Angels placed OF Dexter Fowler on the 10-day injured list with a sprained left knee.
It was originally believed that Fowler would be able to avoid a trip to the injured list after he picked up his injury while running the bases on Friday, but that’s not the case. He’ll miss at least a week, and the Angels have recalled right-hander Jaime Barria to take his place on the roster.

Angels manager Joe Maddon said after Friday’s game that Dexter Fowler (knee) is likely to avoid the injured list.
Fowler suffered a left knee contusion during an awkward play at second base that looked much worse than it actually was during Friday’s game against the Blue Jays. It’s likely that he’ll wind up missing a game or two, but he should be back in the lineup soon.

Dexter Fowler was pulled from Friday’s game against the Blue Jays with a left knee contusion.
Given how bad it looked on the field, and the fact that Fowler had to be carted off, the fact that it’s only a contusion is a very positive development. It’s still unclear if Fowler will require a trip to the injured list, but this is about as good as the news could have been. Expect the Angels to provide another update on his status on Saturday after he’s re-evaluated.

Dexter Fowler was forced to leave Friday’s game against the Blue Jays on a cart after going awkwardly into second base.
It looked like Fowler was indecisive on whether to slide into second base or to just pull up to the bag, but he wound up crumpling in a heap and was on the ground for several minutes before being taken off the field. The Angels should provide an update on his status shortly, but it certainly didn’t look good. Jon Jay is on the team’s taxi squad and could be called upon to replace Fowler on the roster.

Jared Walsh will start in right field on Tuesday against the Astros.
Walsh made two starts in right field last season and he could see more of them with what he’s capable of doing at the plate. It’s a good development for fantasy managers in mixed leagues. Dexter Fowler is on the bench on Tuesday.
