Engelb Vielma has signed with the Cleburne Railroaders of the independent American Association.
Vielma last appeared in the majors with the Orioles during the 2018 campaign. The 28-year-old middle infielder was pretty much out of baseball altogether last year, after playing the prior season in the Mexican League, but he played in the Venezuelan Winter League this offseason.

Twins designated INF Engelb Vielma for assignment.
Vielma carries a great defensive reputation, but he struggled with the bat again this season in the upper minors, slashing .229/.273/.280 with zero homers in 455 plate appearances between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Rochester. The 23-year-old might get another shot with a new organization.

Engelb Vielma has been claimed off waivers by an unknown National League team.
That report comes from Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Viela was designated for assignment by the Twins earlier this week after slashing just .229/.273/.280 with zero home runs in 455 plate appearances this season between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Rochester. The 23-year-old is an excellent defender at shortstop, but his bat obviously has some serious catching up to do.

Giants claimed INF Engelb Vielma off of waivers from the Twins.
It was reported earlier in the day that he was claimed by an unknown National League club, and the Giants have emerged as the winner. He’ll add infield depth for the Giants.

Vielma was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in a 10-day stint with the O’s earlier this season. He probably won’t get much playing time on this stay either.
