    Mariners released OF Eric Filia.
Filia hit .262/.388/.383 with three homers and four steals across 183 plate appearances at Triple-A Tacoma this past season. The 29-year-old outfielder was a highly-regarded prospect in the Mariners’ system a few years ago, but served a 100-game suspension back in 2019 after a third positive test for a drug of abuse, and wound up stalling out in the upper minors.

Red Sox acquired 1B/OF Eric Filia from the Mariners as the player to be named later in the Roenis Elias trade.
Filia sat out the first 50 games of the season at Double-A Arkansas after testing positive for a drug of abuse in January, but the 25-year-old was sporting an impressive .426/.508/.537 batting line in 63 plate appearances since his activation. He has a .343/.428/.460 slash line in 210 pro games. It’s a pretty nice get for Boston.
