Tampa Bay Rays

We all saw what the Rays did to Cole last night. If you didn’t, they tagged him for four earned over five innings pitched. This was the third time Tampa Bay had seen Cole in an eight week span. Good MLB teams will adjust after that many matchups. This is what we have again tonight. Yes, Tampa Bay has struggled mightily against Tanaka (in the past) but they have also seen him twice in the last month. I fully expect Tampa to adjust to Tanaka by now. The Rays are currently underdogs at +128 with a 9.0 under/over.

PITCHER

Patrick Corbin - Washington Nationals - (vs. Philadelphia Phillies) DK: $10200 FD: $9600 Yahoo: $44

With many options at pitcher tonight, who is the best? Well, Tanaka has a great matchup against the Rays who he typically plays well against. Nola has been on fire as of late and lastly, Corbin has great BvP numbers against the Phillies. Which way do we go? For pivoting purposes, we go with Patrick Corbin. He will be the lowest rostered of the three. Corbin actually hasn’t been playing too well and just saw these Phillies last week. In that outing Corbin lasted six innings allowing seven hits and two runs. He totaled 10.1 DK points in the loss. For the most part it was a fine outing. He was lacking strikeouts but if a couple of pitches would have gone differently, Corbin could have had a very solid game against a very good Phillies team. What do I like most about Corbin tonight? He’s contrarian and remains relatively safe considering he should be under rostered. Corbin is my pivot pitcher of the day.

Other SP option: Aaron Nola - Philadelphia Phillies - (vs. Washington Nationals)

CATCHER

Gary Sanchez - New York Yankees - (vs. ) DK: $4300 FD: $3000 Yahoo: $8

Sanchez has been cold. He’s batting just .115 over his past ten games. With that said, his price has dropped significantly and we all know Sanchez has double dong upside. If you’re giving me him at this low of a salary, I’d take a chance on him. Anything higher, he’s a fade. Considering we need to pay up for pitchers today, Sanchez is a value player with upside. The Yankees are favored by -150 with a 9.0 under/over.

Other C Option: Wilson Contreras - Chicago Cubs - (vs. Chad Kuhl)

FIRST BASE

Ji-Man Choi - Tampa Bay Rays - (vs. Masahiro Tanaka) DK: $3300 FD: $2300 Yahoo: $9

Check out Choi’s ridiculously cheap salary across the industry, crazy right? Tampa’s first baseman will be batting lead off tonight despite the DTD (Day to Day) tag next to his name. Choi has a .357 batting average over his last 28 at bats. Last night, Choi went 3 for 3 with a homerun. Choi has totaled 40 DK points over his last two games. Jump on the Ji-Man Choi train before his price goes shooting up.

Other 1B Option: Luke Voit - New York Yankees - (vs. Trevor Richards) [[ad:athena]]

SECOND BASE

Joey Wendle - Tampa Bay Rays - (vs. Masahiro Tanaka) DK: $4500 FD: $3400 Yahoo: $13

Joey Wendle is batting 3rd tonight and Brandon Lowe is batting 2nd. Both players are second base eligible on Draftkings but are at two totally different salaries. Most will flock towards the hotter Brandon Lowe. Not me. Give me the lower rostered, lower priced option tonight in Joey Wendle who is averaging 10.7 PPG over his last three games. Invest in the Rays tonight. Tanaka should have a tough time having already faced Tampa twice this month.

Other 2B Option: Brandon Lowe - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Masahiro Tanaka)

SHORTSTOP

Tim Anderson - Chicago White Sox - (vs. Michael Pineda) DK: $5600 FD: $3700 Yahoo: $22

Tim Anderson is having a great season thus far. Tonight, he faces Pineda, a pitcher who he’s seen nine times before. In those nine at bats, Anderson has two doubles and two home runs. He obviously sees Minnesota’s starter well. Anderson is batting .279 over his last ten games and has a very solid fantasy point per game average at 10.1 - Anderson could go overlooked tonight but I see big things from him against Minnesota and Michael Pineda.

Other SS Option: Trea Turner - Washington Nationals (vs. Aaron Nola)

THIRD BASE

Nolan Arenado - Colorado Rockies - (vs. Kevin Gausman) DK: $5600 FD: $4100 Yahoo: $20

I know this is a “pivots” write up, I just needed to mention my top play of the night, Nolan Arenado. Arenado comes into this game batting .368 over his last ten games. He has one home run and six RBI. Gausman has been playing well but his contact numbers are up. Arenado should be able to get a hold of one. In Coors Field heavy contact often results in big numbers. The Rockies are favored by -117 with a 12 under/over. These massive under/over’s can’t be ignored. I also love Charlie Blackmon tonight.

Other 3B Option: Yoan Moncada - Chicago White Sox (vs. Minnesota Twins)

OUTFIELD

Austin Meadows - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Masahiro Tanaka) DK: $4800 FD: $3200 Yahoo: $17

Meadows is batting .237 over his last ten games but against Tanaka he’s batting .312 with two home runs over 18 at bats. Meadows is a crucial center piece of a contrarian Rays stack. The Rays are underdogs at +128 with a 9.0 under/over. Invest in the Tampa Bay Rays tonight. I will!

Other OF Option: Kevin Kiermaier - Tampa Bay Rays - (vs. Masahiro Tanaka)
