Sean Burke picked up his fourth victory of the season on Thursday, limiting the Yankees to just one run on five hits over 7 1/3 frames.

Burke punched out eight hitters in the contest while issuing one walk. He entered in the second inning after Bryan Hudson got the first five outs as an opener for the White Sox. Burke served up a solo homer to Ryan McMahon in the third inning, but that would be the only run that they could muster against him the rest of the way. The 26-year-old got 20 swings and misses on 88 offerings in the game, posting an elite CSW of 39 percent. Now 4-4 on the season, he’ll look to replicate this fine performance as he brings a 3.89 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 81/29 K/BB ratio (81 innings) into Tuesday’s divisional showdown against the Guardians.

Sean Burke lasted just 1 1/3 innings and gave up seven runs Tuesday against the Pirates.

Pitching on six days’ rest did Burke no good. The average ball in play against him tonight left the bat at 100.1 mph. Unfortunately, Burke’s stuff peaked in June and July, and he a 5.68 ERA in seven starts since the beginning of August. He’s due to make his next start Sunday against the Cardinals, but we’ll have to wait and see if that ends up happening. José Urquidy would be lined up to pitch then if the White Sox want to back off Burke.

Sean Burke tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts in a win over the Astros on Tuesday.

Burke was outstanding on Tuesday in Houston, holding the Astros scoreless into the sixth. He allowed just one hit and walked four batters while collecting six strikeouts, falling one out short of completing six frames at 104 pitches. The 26-year-old right-hander will take an excellent 3.20 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and a 167/54 K/BB ratio across 154 2/3 innings into a start against the Twins in Chicago on Sunday.

Sean Burke walked eight and allowed two runs in three-plus innings Wednesday against the Rangers.

That month when Burke looked like an ace sure was fun. Still, walking eight and allowing only two runs is some kind of accomplishment; the last pitcher to do it was Mitch Keller in 2020. Though just lasting long enough to walk eight is hard enough to accomplish these days; Cole Ragans in May was the only other pitcher to walk eight this year or last. Burke has given up 10 runs over 13 1/3 innings in his last three starts, and with his velocity spike having gone away, he’s no longer an every-week option in mixed leagues. He’ll face the Astros next time out.

Sean Burke worked six innings and allowed four runs Friday in a no-decision versus the Mets.

Burke looked unbeatable for a time in July after a velocity spike, but that extra boost is gone now and he has a 4.57 ERA in his last four starts. He’s still playable in mixed leagues, but expectations should be fairly modest. He’ll work at home against the Rangers next week.

Sean Burke didn’t factor into the decision Sunday despite allowing four runs in 4 1/3 innings versus the Tigers.

Burke was phenomenal in his start against the Reds on Tuesday with seven innings of one-run baseball. This outing wouldn’t be described as that, as he didn’t fool the Detroit lineup, issued three walks, struck out just two and gave up a homer. It’s a disappointing start, but the 26-year-old has earned a clunker or two with an ERA still at 3.15 on the season. He’ll get a chance to rebound Friday against the Mets.

Sean Burke allowed just a run in seven innings but didn’t pick up a decision Tuesday against the Reds.

Burke did what he did, Nick Lodolo allowed three homers and four runs in four innings. Both got no-decisions. Baseball is very fair. It was an outstanding start for the 26-year-old, but the bullpen blew a 4-1 lead to prevent Burke from picking up the victory. He allowed just a solo homer to Eugenio Suárez while striking out eight and not issuing a walk. Burke has been outstanding for most of 2026, and he’ll get a chance to keep it going over the weekend versus the Tigers in Detroit.

Sean Burke allowed two runs in 4 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Burke gave up five hits, walked two and struck out four. He fell to 7-6 with the loss. Burke allowed an RBI single to Willson Contreras in the first inning and a solo home run to Wilyer Abreu in the third inning. His streak of eight consecutive starts with at least five innings pitched was snapped. Burke has a 3.08 ERA. He’s lined up to face the Reds at home next week.

Sean Burke pitched six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts against the Yankees on Thursday.

The velocity spike Burke enjoyed a month ago hasn’t held up over his last three starts, but he’s remained awfully effective anyway. The scoreless outing today was his second in three starts, and he has a 1.42 ERA and a 67/9 K/BB in 50 2/3 innings over his last eight turns. With his peripherals backing up his success, he seems like someone who can be counted on in mixed leagues the rest of the way. He’ll face the Red Sox next week.

Burke gave up four hits, walked one and struck out 10. He fell to 7-5 with the loss. Burke has been excellent over his last seven starts with a 1.61 ERA, 57 strikeouts and seven walks in 44 2/3 innings. He’s 4-1 in that span and the White Sox are 6-1 as a team. Burke lowered his ERA to 3.19 on the season in the process. While his 3.72 xFIP shows he’s potentially not quite this good, it’s still an impressive run for the 26-year-old right-hander. Burke is lined up to face the Yankees at home on Thursday.

Sean Burke delivered an excellent performance in Sunday’s victory over the Blue Jays, scattering just two hits over 6 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball.

Burke punched out five opposing hitters on the afternoon while allowing just one base on balls. Both of the hits that he did allow were singles and the Jays never seriously threatened against him. He got 12 whiffs on 98 offerings on the afternoon, registering a strong CSW of 32 percent. For the season, he now sits at 7-4 with a 3.20 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 120/34 K/BB ratio over 112 1/3 innings through his first 20 appearances. He’ll look to replicate this fine effort when he tangles with the Astros on Saturday.

Dustin Harris went 2-for-3 with a two-run triple and a walk Friday as the Padres defeated the Giants 7-5.

Harris’s triple to right in the third would have been a homer in 29 ballparks, but it just missed in Oracle. He’s 11-for-31 with three RBI and a couple of steals since the Padres called him up last month. Since he’s currently starting against righties, he could be of use in shallow leagues next week with the Padres playing four games at Coors Field.

It’s another subpar line for Ray, but it would have been a nice outing if former teammate Rafael Devers hadn’t hit a perfectly good curveball out to right for a grand slam in the fifth. Fortunately, Ray had a 7-1 lead at the time, and the bullpen finished the job after his departure. Ray will likely face the Rockies in Coors on Wednesday.

Gore pitched four scoreless innings before going double, walk, double, double in the fifth. He was pulled with the Rangers down 3-1, and the fourth run scored quickly afterwards. Gore’s stuff simply isn’t what it was a couple of months ago, and even though the Rangers had to know that, they still let hm face hitters for a third time tonight. Gore is due to take on the Red Sox next Thursday. If the Rangers fall out of contention, one imagines his last start will be skipped.
