Dylan Crews takes a seat against Rays on Friday

Go had been designated for assignment on Friday as the Twins cleared a spot for Walker Jenkins on their 40-man roster. He’ll remain as extra bullpen depth for the Twins at Triple-A St. Paul.

The 27-year-old infielder was designated for assignment on Thursday and passed through waivers unclaimed. Rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Sacramento, Kennedy will try his luck on the open market.

Wilkinson was with the Giants on Saturday as the 27th man for their doubleheader against the Diamondbacks, but now he’ll join the active roster with Sam Hentges (forearm) heading to the injured list. It remains to be seen if he’ll remain in the club’s rotation or if he’ll work as a long man out of the bullpen.

No word yet on how long the Giants anticipate the 30-year-old southpaw to be sidelined for, but it could cost him the remainder of the season. Matt Wilkinson was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to take his place on the club’s active roster.

The Marlins entered the ninth inning facing a 2-0 deficit but unloaded on Max Kranick and Tom Cosgrove for six runs to turn the game around. Lopez’s 400-foot two-run shot off of Cosgrove was the cherry on top of the dramatic comeback. He finished the day 1-for-5 and is now hitting .305/.340/.444 with 10 homers and 61 RBI on the season.

Conine entered the game after Xavier Edwards (thumb, elbow) left due to injury. He made the most of his opportunity, as he walked and stole second base in the seventh inning but was left stranded there. He also walked and executed a double steal with Esteury Ruiz in the ninth, before scoring on a throwing error. On the season, the 29-year-old outfielder is slashing .249/.354/.492 with 14 homers, 31 RBI and four swipes in 229 plate appearances.

The 30-year-old right-hander struck out two batters on the day while issuing a pair of walks. The lone tally against him came on an RBI double off the bat of Nasim Nuñez in the fifth inning. Unfortunately, the Marlins couldn’t scratch out a single run of support for him. Junk got six whiffs on 65 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of only 17 percent. Now 6-9 on the season, he’ll carry a 4.11 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 70/28 K/BB ratio (103 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Cubs.

The light-hitting infielder smacked a Janson Junk offering off the wall in right field to break a scoreless tie in the home half of the fifth inning. Nuñez finished the afternoon 1-for-3 and is now slashing .215/.296/.251 with one homer, 35 RBI and 43 stolen bases on the season.

Lile gave the Nats a bit more breathing room with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning that extended their lead to 2-0. He also singled in the ballgame. He has been a key cog in the Nationals’ lineup this season, slashing .252/.304/.428 with 18 homers, 76 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 569 plate appearances.

The left-hander struck out six batters in the ballgame and didn’t allow an extra-base hit. He exited with a 1-0 lead and in line for a victory, but the Nationals’ bullpen was unable to hang on for him. Alvarez generated seven swings and misses on 97 offerings, posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine effort as he brings a solid 3.47 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and an 86/41 K/BB ratio (90 2/3 innings) into a tough matchup against the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Saturday.
