Tomoyuki Sugano was lit up for seven runs on eight hits over five innings in a no-decision against the Twins on Friday evening in Minneapolis.

Sugano struck out two batters in the contest while allowing one base on balls. The Twins got to him early and often in this one as Kody Clemens blasted a two-run homer in the first inning and Brooks Lee clobbered a two-run shot in the second inning. Sugano then settled in until giving up an additional three runs in his final frame. He got just five swings and misses on 85 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll try to bounce back as he brings a 4.80 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and a 48/23 K/BB ratio (84 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Marlins.

There was conflicting reports as to whether Sugano would need to be placed on the injured list, but the Rockies won’t take any chances. Sugano will likely be back — if there are no setbacks, of course — after the All-Star break. Sean Sullivan is up to take Sugano’s spot in the rotation, for now.

Tomoyuki Sugano was scratched from Saturday’s scheduled start against the Giants with back spasms.

It’ll be rookie Sean Sullivan drawing the starting assignment at Coors Field in his place. The 36-year-old veteran has been dealing with a finger issue since his previous outing against the Twins last week, but it’s a back-related issue that will keep him from taking the ball this weekend. It sounds like this could become an injured list situation if he’s not ready to pitch in a couple days.

It’ll be Tanner Gordon coming off the injured list to start against the Marlins on Tuesday in Sugano’s place. The 36-year-old was torched for seven runs over five innings in his previous outing against the Twins last Friday. It appears the he’ll avoid a trip to the injured list and take the ball against the Giants later this week.

Tomoyuki Sugano allowed one run in six innings and got the win in the Rockies’ 2-1 victory over the Pirates on Saturday.

Sugano gave up four hits, walked none and struck out five. He improved to 8-4 with the win. Sugano lowered his ERA to 4.31, though his xFIP is 4.98. The 36-year-old right-hander has one of the lowest strikeout percentages among starters at 13 percent. Sugano out-dueled Paul Skenes on Saturday, but doesn’t offer much fantasy upside. He’s lined up to face the Twins on the road next weekend.

Tomoyuki Sugano was credited with a win despite allowing eight runs over five innings against the Athletics on Sunday.

Sugano gave up four runs in the first inning. The right-hander was shaky — at best — for the rest of the game, but he exited with an 18-8 lead. Sugano allowed nine hits, walked two and struck out two and has one of the least deserving wins of the 2026 season. He’ll need to pitch better than this against the Pirates next weekend if he wants to replicate the result. He does not want to replicate any of the other results.

Tomoyuki Sugano allowed three runs over five innings while picking up a win over the Cubs on Tuesday.

Sugano wasn’t great, but didn’t have to be with Colorado providing a touchdown worth of offense behind him. The 36-year-old held the Chicago offense to just one run over five innings, but a pair of runs charged to him without recording an out turned an excellent outing into a mediocre one. One that comes with his sixth win of the season, however. Sugano could be a deadline target for a team looking for innings at the bottom of their rotation, but for now, he’s scheduled to face the Athletics on Sunday.

Sugano was sharp early on, scattering three hits and a walk over four scoreless innings. The Angels would finally bring two runs in to score in the fifth on a walk and two doubles. Sugano’s day would be done after five at 96 pitches. He struck out five. The 36-year-old right-hander has been relatively solid for the Rockies, posting a 3.98 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 36/18 K/BB ratio across 63 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Cubs in Colorado next Tuesday.

Tomoyuki Sugano allowed three runs over 4 2/3 innings while picking up a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Sugano gave up two runs in the first, both on solo homers by Shohei Ohtani by Freddie Freeman. From that point on he was solid, but the damage was done with Ohtani throwing six no-hit innings and allowing just a run. Sugano doesn’t miss enough bats to truly trust as a fantasy streamer, but the results — especially considering who he’s pitching for — have been better than expected. He’ll try and keep the ball in the park against the Angels next week.

Tomoyuki Sugano pitched 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball Friday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks.

Sugano left down 2-1 before the Rockies came back to win the game 3-2. He has a 3.86 ERA after 10 starts, which could give him a little trade value in spite of his paltry 13 percent strikeout rate. He’s due to make his next start at home Wednesday versus the Dodgers.

The homer was his 13th, so power production hasn’t really been his issue. However, Duran came into this one hitless in his previous four games. It was his first multihit game since June 16 and his first time reaching base safely three times in a game since May 30. His OBP is sitting at .259, compared to .346, .342 and .332 the previous three years.

Johnson gave up a two-run homer in the second and a three-run blast in the third, but the runs from the latter were all unearned after a Zach Neto error extended the inning. It brings Johnson’s total of homers allowed to eight in 28 1/3 innings this season and 12 in 43 innings total as a major leaguer. He’s definitely throwing better now than he has at any other point since debuting with the Angels, but he remains far away from contributing in fantasy leagues. He’ll likely face the Twins on Saturday.

Contreras’s 20th homer came in his 86th game of the season. Last year, he hit 20 in 135 games for the Cardinals. He’s now just four shy of his career high from 2019, when he hit 24 in 105 games for the Cubs. Unfortunately, this might be Contreras’s last action for a bit. MLB is expected to hand down a decision on his appeal of a seven-game suspension on Monday. Even if it’s dropped to six games, that’d still put him out until after the break.

Machado was intentionally walked with two on and two out in the fifth, after which Jack Dreyer got Gavin Sheets to ground out. He came up again with two on in the seventh, but this time there was a righty in the game, no base open and one out. He was pitched to, and he homered just over the wall in center on an 0-2 middle-middle fastball from Kyle Hurt. It was Machado’s fourth homer in eight games and sixth in 14 games.
