Francisco Alvarez getting a breather on Sunday

Davila has done a nice job in 20 appearances out of the Mariners’ bullpen this season, registering a 3.57 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, though his 9/11 K/BB ratio over 22 2/3 innings leaves a lot to be desired. Alex Hoppe was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move to take his place in the M’s bullpen.

Bregman has really been scuffling at the plate over the past month, slashing .186/.298/.353 with four homers and 19 RBI over 121 plate appearances in his last 26 games. Perhaps taking a day off to clear his head will do him some good. Pedro Ramirez will man the hot corner in his absence and will bat eighth against Braxton Ashcraft and the Pirates on Sunday afternoon at PNC Park.

The 22-year-old slugger has certainly earned a day off after hitting .251/.327/.468 with 21 homers, 75 RBI and 11 stolen bases across 449 plate appearances in what has been an extremely impressive rookie campaign. Nathaniel Lowe will start in his place at first base and will bat fifth for the Reds against Cardinals’ right-hander Kyle Leahy on Sunday.

Mitchell will get a rare day off with left-hander Kyle Freeland toeing the slab for the Rockies on Sunday afternoon. Luis Lara will start in his place in center field and will bat seventh for the Brewers on Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee.

Montgomery fouled a ball off of his shin during the ninth inning of Saturday’s battle against the Astros. It was the second time in less than a week that he fouled a ball off of the same spot and was still experiencing soreness after receiving treatment on Saturday evening, so the White Sox will play it safe and give him a full day off to recover on Sunday. Luisangel Acuña will start in his place at shortstop and bat eighth against Astros’ righty Ronel Blanco.

It looks to be just a routine day of rest for the 35-year-old slugger. LaMonte Wade Jr. will start in his place at first base and will bat fifth against White Sox’ right-hander Erick Fedde on Sunday afternoon at Rate Field in Chicago.

The 28-year-old right-hander has impressed in two outings with the Brewers this season, posting a 0.67 WHIP and 4/1 K/BB ratio over three scoreless frames. He’ll function in a middle relief role. Lance McCullers Jr. was designated for assignment in a corresponding move on Sunday.

The 32-year-old right-hander made just two appearances during his time with the Brewers, posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and a 5/5 K/BB ratio over 4 2/3 innings. There’s a chance that another team could take a chance on him on waivers as a reclamation project.

The 33-year-old infielder is mired in an extended slump at the plate, so giving him a day or two off to clear his head wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world. Sung-Mun Song will start in his place at shortstop and will bat ninth for the Padres against Janson Junk and the Marlins on Sunday afternoon.

It’s the second time this week that Robert has found himself on the bench as the Mets ease him back into a full-time workload following a lengthy stay on the injured list. A.J. Ewing will slide over and cover center field while Tyrone Taylor starts in left field and will bat seventh for the Mets against Dodgers’ right-hander Emmet Sheehan.
