Kyle Tucker is out of the Dodgers lineup Saturday against the

The apparent day off comes against Jacob Misiorowski, which is something most hitters probably wouldn’t complain about. Tucker did well against the Cubs and D-backs last week and was trending nicely in xwOBA terms for a time, but he’s 0-for-16 versus the Royals and Brewers this week. Alex Call is stating in right field tonight.

Mets selected the contract of INF/OF Christopher Morel from Triple-A Syracuse.

Morel earned a look by going 14-for-43 with seven homers in 11 games for Syracuse this month, but the Mets didn’t clear much of a role for him by DFAing Gabriel Arias. Morel had mostly played second base, third base and right field for Syracuse of late. He figures to start somewhere against lefties, but it seems like he’ll need to produce in order to get a chance against righties.

Mets designated INF Gabriel Arias for assignment.

Why did they even claim him in the first place? Arias got one start and made one appearance off the bench during his 10 days with the Mets, going 0-for-5. He’ll stay in the organization if he clears waivers, but it’s just not going to make sense for the Mets to give him another chance in September when they have the similar-but-more-talented Ronny Mauricio ready to take those at-bats. Arias offers ample pop for a middle infielder, but poor plate discipline has held him back in a big way.

Rays activated LHP Shane McClanahan from the 15-day injured list.

McClanahan missed just a couple of turns back with back tightness. He’ll start against the Orioles tonight.

Rays optioned RHP Joe Boyle to Triple-A Durham.

Boyle, who was called up Saturday, allowed two runs in 3 1/3 innings to finish off Sunday’s 10-2 loss to the Orioles. He’ll likely go back into the rotation at Durham.

MLB owners have unanimously approved the ownership transfer of the Padres to Kwanza Jones and José E. Feliciano.

Feliciano will become the team’s control person, replacing John Seidler. The $3.9 billion purchase is expected to become official by the end the week, with a press conference slated for next Monday.

Twins placed OF Austin Martin on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring.

Alex Jackson is replacing Martin, much to the chagrin of anyone hoping it was Walker Jenkins time. Martin had been playing left field against left-handed pitchers. Those extra starts figure to go to Ryan Kreidler and Victor Caratini now.

Twins selected the contract of C Alex Jackson from Triple-A St. Paul.

Jackson, who was DFA’d on Friday, is now back on the Twins’ major league roster after clearing waivers. The return of a third catcher suggests that Victor Caratini will be getting some extra playing time at DH and/or first base.

The Giants are calling up Matt Wilkinson, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

It’d be the MLB debut for the 23-year-old Wilkenson, who has a 5.15 ERA and a 43/17 K/BB in 43 2/3 innings over 10 starts since moving up to Triple-A Sacramento. It seems likely that he’ll pitch in middle relief initially, as the Giants pen is pretty worn out after Sunday’s loss to the Rockies.

Luis Peña is being promoted to Double-A Biloxi, the Brewers announced.

Peña, the reported centerpiece of the Brewers’ offer for Tarik Skubal, was hitting .298/.384/.420 with 27 steals in 51 games for High-A Wisconsin. The 19-year-old is probably looking at a move off shortstop at some point, but his offensive potential could still make him an All-Star-type player elsewhere.

JJ Bleday is out of the Reds’ starting lineup in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader.

It’s the first time he’s sat since July 29. Bleday will almost surely be back in there for game two, since even though he’s slumping — he’s hitting .146 with one RBI in 14 games this month — Terry Francona views him as the team’s one everyday outfielder. Michael Toglia is starting in left against lefty Quinn Mathews in game one.
