Rangers bring back Adam Macko from Triple-A

Moreno is hitting .385 with four homers in his last 17 games. His season average is up to .310, giving him a legitimate shot of overtaking Luis Arraez at .312 for the NL batting title. He just needs to avoid running out of energy; he’s caught eight straight games now.

Kelly struck out just two tonight. Unless the D-backs somehow remain in contention until Sunday, Kelly’s season is likely over at 10-14 with a 4.94 ERA. Although his velocity held steady at age 37, his four percent home run, 16 percent strikeout, 10 percent walk and 40 percent groundball rates are all career worsts. That doesn’t bode well for the second season of his two-year, $40 million contract with the D-backs.

Loáisiga saved Arizona’s sixth game of the season and now has his second in game No. 158. He’s sporting a 2.22 ERA this season, which isn’t quite as surprising as the fact that he’s managed to pitch 65 innings. The oft-injured 31-year-old totaled 51 1/3 innings for the Yankees over the three previous seasons.

Zac Veen’s latest outfield miscue on a liner from Ketel Marte fueled a four-run first inning that ruined Adams’ night. Adams went on to strike out eight and walk none to finish his six-start stint in the majors with a 4.03 ERA and a 31/12 K/BB in 29 innings. He should certainly be in the running for a spot in Colorado’s rotation next spring.

Tovar has an .837 OPS this month. He had a .561 OPS through the end of July before coming in at .723 last month, and now he’s up to .611 for the year. That’s still obviously bad, and he’s been a dreadful regular two years running now, but it’s at least a little something to build on. He’s signed through 2030, so he’s not going anywhere.

Serven had the pitch run in on his hands and deflect off his bat right under his left eye. He was able to walk off the field on his own. Jonah Heim replaced him.

Dubón won it for the Braves with a dribbler in the 10th inning that was just far enough away from Reds reliever Luis Mey to plate the winning run from third. That was Atlanta’s first lead in the whole game and Dubón’s fine regular season is coming to a close with a .275 batting average, .712 OPS, 11 home runs, and nine stolen bases while playing great defense at shortstop.

Sale washed away a lead-off home run by Juan Brito to retire the next eight batters he faced with five strikeouts… until Brito came up again and smacked a single. Besides that peculiar thorn in his side, Sale was his usual dominant self, matching a season-high with 23 swings-and-misses and struck out double-digit batters for the fifth time this season. With this being the finale of his regular season, Sale closed his age-37 campaign with a 2.16 ERA, 14 wins, and 200 strikeouts in 162 2/3 innings. The Braves are likely locked in to the third seed in the National League, so Sale is set to pitch next in game one of the Wild Card series next Tuesday.

Brito was an absolute thorn in Chris Sale’s side here. He opened the game with a lead-off home run and then after Sale retired the next eight batters he faced, Brito laced a single. Not many hitters have ever had Sale’s number, so it bodes well for Brito as he still searches for stable footing in the big leagues. That was his third home run of the season through 95 at-bats.

A welcome change from his recent starts and season in general, Abbott was fantastic here. The only two runs he allowed came via solo home runs by Matt Olson and Austin Riley, but the Braves rarely threatened otherwise. Overall, it was a season to forget for Abbott with a 4.61 ERA after pitching to a 3.42 mark in his career before the year began. Just to give a sense of how rare this outing was, it was Abbott’s first time completing seven innings in 2026. Better late than never.
